Letter from Elizabeth Buffum Chace, Valley Falls, R[hode] I[sland], to Samuel May, [18]50 [July] 29th
Description:
E.B. Chace writes to Samuel May requesting "that one of the Hundred Conventions should be held in this village." Chace says they "have a good hall, our village is a pretty large one, and contains about the usual proportion of intelligent, truth-seeking people." She states the people of Valley Falls will "entertain the agents comfortably" and they will try to cover the costs for the convention. She then asks May if William Lloyd Garrison could attend, "as he has never spoken here," and many people want to hear him.
