Lucy M. Ball and Martha V. Ball write to Maria Weston Chapman in regards to an "unpleasant circumstance that transpired" at a meeting. They write that they "shall continue to pray that God may teach you 'what are the first principles of the gospel of Peace. and that the root of the written 'may be implanted in your heart by the adorable Redeemer." They write that their friend was "mistaken in the opinion she entertained of you and in that care it only remained for you to set her right in the matter of your feelings toward us." They continue to discuss the quarrel that occurred on Friday. They reference an invitation by Lucretia Mott.
