Letter from Deborah P. Palmer, Georgetown, [Massachusetts], to Maria Weston Chapman, 1839 Dec[ember] 1
Description:
Deborah P. Palmer writes to Maria Weston Chapman in regards to being in the initial stages of setting up a conference for her anti-slavery society. She writes, "We hope by meeting together to animate and encourage each other, and that each local soc[iety] will contribute its share of information, and experience, to render the Con[ference]. interesting, and beneficial." She extends an invitation to Maria to attend the next meeting which will be held at the house of Mr. Nathan Webster in Haverhill on the third thursday in January. She would like to know where Maria stands with the new organization and mentions there are a few Garrison supporters within her society. She also mentions that she did not receive any packages for the "Liberty Bell." She will lay Maria's plan to publish a series of antislavery sales before her society.
