Letter from Edmund Quincy to Samuel May, 1851 June 10
Description:
Edmund Quincy writes to Samuel May informing him that "Col. Lincoln allows us the use of the Factory Chapel at Canton" and that "Dunbar" thinks "that the day meetings had better be held in the Town Hall ..." He then discusses which speakers to invite for the upcoming meeting, remarking that "Dunbar says that [Parker] Pillsbury is the only agent they have ever had & that he would not be attractive." Quincy proposes keeping "brother [Joesph] Treat" "in those rural districts which are the least civilized." He also suggests William Lloyd Garrison and Abby Kelley Foster could speak. Quincy also reports that he has just heard that "Thompson had not arrived!" and was not picked up from "the cars." After signing his initials, Quincy comments on "the Hayden matter" and says, "I suppose you don't know too much about it."
