Letter from William Henry Fish, Millville, [Massachusetts], to Samuel May, [18]51 Sept[ember] 15
Description:
William Henry Fish writes to Samuel May discussing his attempts to meet May in Millville and Pascoag, Rhode Island. Fish describes waiting for the Boston train to reach Millville to meet May, and not seeing him there, traveling to Pascoag, hoping to find him there. He tells May that the meeting there, "went very well & on Sunday we had a very good time. Stephen [S. Foster] did remarkably well & gave general satisfaction." Still, Fish says he "should have been very glad to have had you with us ... friends were disappointed at not seeing you." He thinks more meetings in the region would be helpful to the cause and reports that Foster does not want to go to Milford the following week. Fish then offers "to be at Boylston on the day specified" and says that he is usually at Hopedale the second Sunday of each month. He also asks May about "Edward's coming to Hopedale" and for May to respond as soon as possible.
