Letter from Stephen Symonds Foster, Worcester, [Massachusetts], to Samuel May, 1851 Sept[ember] 24
Description:
Stephen S. Foster writes to Samuel May telling him he will probably not be able to attend a meeting next Sunday, as he is "enduring one of the worst colds that ever afflicted a mortal man ..." He says he has "no strength left; either physical or mental. My mind is suffering even more than my body." Foster thinks "the prospect is not hopeful" for a recovery in time for the meeting, and states that his wife, Abby Kelley Foster, proposed holding a meeting before the convention, but he wrote to "her that that will not do."
