Letter from James C. Jackson, [New York], to Maria Weston Chapman, 1840 [September 17].
Description:
James C. Jackson writes to Maria Weston Chapman in regards to thanking her for sending the "Report of De Toqueville to the Chamber of Deputies" and the review of it. He is sad that New Hampshire will not release [Nathaniel P.] Rogers until May. He leaves the city tomorrow to help the cause in western New York. He says, "you will at Boston decided who had better edit the paper & we will have him at once."
