Letter from William Coffin, New Bedford, [Massachusetts], to Maria Weston Chapman, 1840 Sept[ember] 5
Description:
William Coffin writes to Maria Weston Chapman in regards to receiving her letter asking him to inform "Abraham" of the arrival in Boston of Mr. Hogan. Abraham feels perfectly safe surrounded by his friends "who are willing to do all in their power to prevent his falling into the hands of the christian slaveholder." He was not prepared to hear of her husband's illness. He sends a message to Deborah Weston that "Aunt Mary Taber and Isaac are both quite sick."
