Letter from J.H. Crane, Pepperell, [Massachusetts], to Samuel May, 1852 July 26th
Description:
In this letter to Samuel May, J.H. Crane discusses a proposed convention to be held in Pepperell. Crane suggests various locations for the convention, telling May, "I think the prices very reasonable" for two different halls. He also recommends that "the meetings had better commence Saturday afternoon in order to create an interest for Sunday," and he states his hopes that William Lloyd Garrison and Stephen S. Foster could attend. Crane then proposes that the following "Sunday would be a favorable time for you to preach for Mr. Babbage," and he asks May to deliver two sermons, "one sermon on slavery & one on war." He requests that May write him about his preferred dates and location for the convention, and in the postscript, he asks him about handbills for the convention.
