Letter from Lucy Stone to Samuel May, [1853 June 28]
Description:
Lucy Stone writes to Samuel May stating that since she did not receive his letter earlier, she did not go to Princeton. Stone says she tried to go to Princeton anyway but was forced to give up. She now plans to be at home for the summer and study and so she cannot attend the July 4th meeting in Abington. Stone tells May she has been requested to speak in Philadelphia and Cincinnati but she would rather devote "a large part of my time for Woman's RIghts, so that I can't have an agency" from any antislavery society. She still promises to sell subscriptions and raise funds "as though I was an agent."
