Letter from C. Austin Joy, Nantucket, [Massachusetts], to Maria Weston Chapman, 1844 [January] 9
Description:
C. Austin Joy writes to Maria Weston Chapman in regards to enclosing letters to Henry W. Williams and Nathaniel P. Rogers, the first containing forty dollars for the Liberator, and the second ten dollars for Rogers. He writes, "the other fifty we desire to give to the American anti-slavery society, towards liquidating its debt." Having learned that George Bradburn, a fellow townsman, is one of the creditors, they would like to pass the money directly on to him.
