Letter from William Bolles, [New London, Connecticut], to Maria Weston Chapman, 1843 Aug[ust] 8
Description:
William Bolles writes to Maria Weston Chapman in regards to thinking that the "Brotherhood of Thieves" as "eminently an anti-slavery work" which he wishes to see used in the service of the cause. He suggests publishing extracts in the Liberator with a commendatory notice. Three thousand copies have been printed, and Mr. [Stephen S.] Foster was furnished with two thousand to be disposed of for his benefit. He thinks that a smiliar plan by all agents in regard to cheap antislavery literature "would have a tendency to approximate a self-sustaining basis for the anti-slavery movement."
