A scene on the upper Thames. On the bank at the right a man wearing a low-crowned soft hat and a loose coat is seated on a camp stool, sketching. On the river are a man and a woman in a rowboat. On the other bank is a boathouse near large trees, beyond which there is a high ground. There are clouds in the sky. Near the right lower corner, "Whistler."
