1866. View is looking east-southeast from behind the Union line. Confederates held the high ground along the horizon. The long building in the middle distance is the Western & Atlantic Railroad depot which was the center of the Union lines. Ringgold Gap is the lower area on the horizon at the right, which is where South Chickamauga Creek flows between White Oak Mountain to the left and Taylor's Ridge to the right.
