Paul F. Weller was President from 1985-1996, he received a B.S. from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Cornell University. After working in the private sector as a research chemist, he entered the field of higher education, serving as Vice President for Academic Affairs at the California State Polytechnic University at Pomona. At Framingham he strengthened the cultural and artistic programs, bringing a large number of renowned speakers to campus. The McAuliffe Challenger Center was established during his tenure.
