Letter from Samuel Joseph May, Syracuse, [N.Y.], to William Lloyd Garrison, Dec[emebr] 8 1852
Description:
Samuel Joseph May informs William Lloyd Garrison that he has delivered a "long and faithful sermon on Daniel Webster" which he is presently working upon to convert it to a written editorial piece for publication. May proposes, in the hopes of securing the widest possible audience, to first send the manuscript to the Tribune, as he states it will "not copy from Anti-Slavery papers" (while anti-slavery papers may yet copy from the Tribune), and that if the piece is published in the Tribune, it may count on reaching "40,000 or 50000 readers".
