J. M. Blakesley writes to Amos A. Phelps about his efforts to form a county antislavery society. He talks about a recent mob activity in Chatam, N. Y. and says a more formidable one is expected to come. Answering Phelps’s inquiry about Dr. Wayland and the efforts to suppress abolition in Brown University, Blakesley reports a few facts.
