Letter from Samuel Philbrick, Brookline, [Mass.], to William Lloyd Garrison, 21. Jan[uar]y 1846
Description:
Samuel Philbrick informs William Lloyd Garrison that the donation from the Anti-Slavery Fair was "unquestionably designed to liquidate the demands" held against the Liberator. Philbrick declares that should Garrison pay him the sum of $50 against the balance of his previous loans to Garrison, he will make a "New Year's present" to Garrison by waiving his claim to the remaining balance. Philbrick declares to Garrison that he will return to duty should the Executive Committee manifest the desire for his services.
