Description:
James Fowler writes to Amos A. Phelps to decline to serve as an officer of the Massachusetts Abolition Society. He says that, although he approves of the society’s general object and its separation from the older society, he prefers to work for the antislavery causes as an individual. He says he encloses $50 toward the salary of the editor of the Massachusetts Abolitionist. He also requests that 6 copies of the Abolitionist, for which he has paid for, be sent to Rev. Gould.
