Wendell Phillips forwards to William Lloyd Garrison a letter by William Henry Herndon, whom Phillips identifies as "the law partner" of President Abraham Lincoln. Phillips informs Garrison that Herndon is composing a biographical work on Lincoln, and requests that Garrison assist Herndon with his inquiries if he is able.
