Letter from Nathan Robinson Johnston, Topsham, Vt., to William Lloyd Garrison, Dec[ember] 10. 1861
Description:
N.R. Johnston writes that since he has read the will of Francis Jackson, Garrison has been much on his mind. Johnston states that ever since making Garrison's personal acquaintance in West Randolph, he has "had a desire for fellowship" with Garrison, and states that he deeply admires Garrison's "self-sacrificing philanthropy". Johnston asserts that his adherence to abolitionism is "inseperable" from his religion, and lauds Francis Jackson's bequests to abolitionist and women's rights groups and individuals.
