Letter from Hiram Knapp, Boston, [Mass.], to William Lloyd Garrison, Feb[ruary] 5. 1866
Description:
Hiram Knapp writes William Lloyd Garrison to offer an explaination of his greeting to Garrison the night of General Howard's lecture at the Music Hall, stating that he had boarded with Garrison and John Greenleaf Whittier on Federal Street many years ago, and had visited, at Garrison's invitation, the celebration at Newburyport on July 4, 1828 where Garrison read the Declaration of Independance. Knapp provides a general accounting of his life since the early days of the anti-slavery movement, and provides Garrison with information concerning the activities of his children.
