Letter from Emily Sturtevant, New Bedford, to Amos Augustus Phelps, Jan 21. 1839
Description:
In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, the writer says she is sending her regards through a friend who is to visit Boston. She chastises Phelps for not writing to her about the box she had sent to him, and asks about his domestic affairs, as well as his departure from the Anti-Slavery Society, about which she read in the Liberator. She also shares her grief for losing “Sister C.” (presumably Phelps’s first wife, Charlotte).
