Letter from Lewis Tappan, New York, to Amos Augustus Phelps, 1847 June 9
Description:
In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, Lewis Tappan says he is enclosing the resolution passed by the Executive Committee of the American and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society regarding Phelps’s decision to decline to accept the renewed appointment of the office of Corresponding Secretary of the society. Another page of the same sheet contains a “true copy of record” of the said resolution, signed by William Harned, “Recording Secretary of the Committee,” acknowledging Phelps’s declination to accept the office.
