Letter from Parker Pillsbury, Warrington, [England], to Samuel May, Jr., May 25, 1855
Description:
Pillsbury regrets that William Ellery Channing does not seem inclined to help the American Anti-Slavery Society. He comments on Nehemiah Adams' "A South-Side View of Slavery." Pillsbury discusses his finances and tells May that his visits to the Musée du Louvre and the Château de Versailles cured him of wanting "every decent picture" he saw. He reports that John Bishop Estlin and Mary Anne Estlin are both in poor health and that he plans to go to Germany with Reverend S. Alfred Steinthal and Reverend Francis Bishop.
