In the same train going to Concord was Chief Justice S. P. Chase. William Lloyd Garrison elaborates on S. P. Chase: "I did not care to speak to him--partly because of his enfeebled condition, and partly because I have long since lost much of the respect I had for him." Garrison was met by George A. Blanchard in Concord. There was a severe thunderstorm that night. He tells about Mrs. Blanchard's 43rd birthday party. Garrison will go on some sightseeing tours.
