Letter from Oliver Johnson, [New York, N.Y. ?], to William Lloyd Garrison, July 20, 1854
Description:
Oliver Johnson writes to William Lloyd Garrison informing him that the Standard will be published that week in its "new dress", and expresses his satisfaction with the new type and design. He states that Mr. Gay has been present at the office, and that he has been tending to his daughter, who was stricken with dysentary. Johnson states that she had been slated to compose the leader for the upcoming issue, but her health concerns obliged him to absent her from this role and undertake the task himself. Johnson adds that he has sent copies of the proceedings of the Pennsylvania Yearly Meeting of Progressive Friends to Garrison.
