Letter from Oliver Johnson, New York, [N.Y.], to William Lloyd Garrison, 23 May, 1862
Description:
Oliver Johnson writes that he has yet to receive any word from William Lloyd Garrison concerning the matter of his quandry regarding Parker Pillsbury's letter to the Standard regarding James Miller M'Kim. Johnson states that he doubts the wisdom of his actions, but defends his decision to refrain from publication of the letter. Johnson states that he had received a reply from Pillsbury, who did not retract his statements, but did release Johnson from "any obligation to print" the letter.
