Letter from John Pierpont, Washington, D.C., to William Lloyd Garrison, 11 Nov[ember] 1864
Description:
Reverend John Pierpont writes to William Lloyd Garrison concerning Judge Underwood's support in permitting African-Americans to testify in federal court (in Virginia), calling it "another step towards the acknowledgement of colored mens rights". Pierpont forwards to Garrison a copy of Underwood's "objection", and proposes that Garrison publish it in the Liberator.
