In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, Simeon Smith Jocelyn expresses his regret that Phelps intends to leave the field of antislavery. On the other hand, he expresses his delight at the possibility of Phelps being located in the ministry at New Haven. Jocelyn will discuss the matter with a few people in New Haven next time when he visits the area.
