Letter from Francis Jackson, Boston, to Amos Augustus Phelps, Feb 11 1839
Description:
In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, Francis Jackson says he is sending a copy of John Pierpont’s recent sermon that caused much commotion among his pro-slavery, anti-temperance parishioners. He says Phelps’s Foreign slave trade & colonization memorial signed by 400 men was presented to the committee. He encourages Phelps to attend the upcoming hearing.
