Maria Weston Chapman asks Mary S. Parker, who is president of the Boston Female Anti-Slavery Society, to say to the society that Chapman wishes to be excused from serving as foreign corresponding secretary. Chapman thinks that she ought not to retain an office which was laid upon her under the idea that she would "be able to give unanimous satisfaction in discharging its duties."
