Mary Carpenter writes that Maria Weston Chapman's account of the [Boston anti-slavery] fair in the Liberator has been read here with interest. Frederick Douglass is expected to visit Bristol, England. Carpenter praises "L not S. Sanford's poem," and suggests publishing it in the next Liberty Bell. [The 1847 issue of the Liberty Bell contained a poem by Sarah Sanford of Bristol (p. 267-274).] About a year ago Carpenter sent Chapman a little volume, "Puritan Mothers," which included poems referring to slavery.
