... separated from Helen and the latter was alike inconsolable. Thus, with our unbounded confidence in the love of yourself and Mrs. Hopkins for the dear child decided the question and we now hope and believe all was for the best. I learn with profound sorrow that some who are near and dear to you are in trouble and beg to assure you of my heartfelt sympathy and trust that brighter and better days are just ahead. I have been greatly worried about business matters for a year just, but hope to weather the storm and have fair sailing after a while. I enclose letter and a check recd from parties in Washington Pa for Helen's "Tommy Fund". Please have write them and acknowledge receipt.
