On back: Copy of a painting by Miss Elta Capen made about 1905 showing the field where first Hundredth and his men camped. A fieldstone standing upright marked the spot where one of men were buried. This spot is a direct line from So Pittsfield to Brooker Hill then over the McNerney Rd to Becket Center and down the Easter side of Jacob Ladder Rte. Major Brooker's house stood at the foot of Brooker Hill. They used the old road which had almost no hills- directly west from this spot. Note the site of this camp is debatable, and according to Washington Town History, this site is near the Becket-Washington line, in Washington behind where Daniel Phillips lived on Phillips Road.
