G. R. Russell encloses ten dollars in aid of the Liberty Bell. However, he explains that he is not of the abolition party, "although, instead of opposition to it, I have always entertained the highest respect for its courage, talent, perseverance, & consistency." G. R. Russell says about the abolition party: "And if I do not approve all that it says & does, it is because I think its means are not always conducive to the righteous end it has in view." Whatever lukewarmness G. R. Russell may feel, he is "abundantly atoned for in the zeal & activity" of his wife. G. R. Russell sympathizes with Anne Warren Weston for "the trials & additional responsibility to which you are subjected in the absence of your able & excellent sister."
