William Lloyd Garrison gives advice concerning the work to be done in Connecticut. He criticizes Dr. Channing's book. Garrison writes: "It makes me laugh (there is something, too, of ineffable contempt within me) to see the parade which some of our would-be abolitionists are making about the little book of the great Dr. Channing on slavery! The only portions of it which are of the least consequence or value, are the sheer moral plagiarism which he has stolen from the writings of the abolitionists: the rest is a farrago of impertinence, contradiction and defamation."
