William Lloyd Garrison expresses his gratitude to Oliver Johnson for a photograph of Theodore D. Weld. Garrison wishes he could have been in Providence with Oliver Johnson. Garrison has invited Rev. James William Massie to the first of August celebration in Abington. Wendell Phillips is not able to be there. Garrison asks if there will be another riot in New York "when the draft again comes on?" He sympathizes with friends James S. Gibbons and William P. Powell in the destruction of their property by a mob. Wendell Garrison and Franky Garrison are stopping in Philadelphia on their way to Gettysburg. Joshua Coffin has been in the asylum in Worcester.
