William Lloyd Garrison gives the names of those people who went to the anniversary meeting of the American Anti-Slavery Society. Garrison writes: "We had, yesterday, our invariable accompaniment to our anniversary, a dismal pouring, north-easterly rain-storm, making every thing look and every body feel exceedingly uncomfortable." Wendell Phillips was the first speaker at Dr. G. B. Cheever's church. Phillips stressed the importance of colored people having the right to vote. William L. Garrison and Wendell Phillips disagreed on the question of dissolving the Society. Charles Lenox Remond "made, as usual, a querulous, fault-finding talk; going, of course, with Phillips," who favored continuing the Society. The National Freedmen's Association held a meeting at Cooper Institute. The "kind-hearted, noble John Hopper" died. The mother of Mrs. William Lloyd Garrison, Jr. is returning to Boston with William Lloyd Garrison.
