Description:
Frances H. Drake tells of the great success of [Parker] Pillsbury's three day campaign for the abolitionist cause. Initially, Pillsbury was detested in Leominster. But after hearing him, the people were enthusiastic. Drake elaborates: "I have been equally determined they should like both him & his truths. I longed for an opportunity for him to present his views, the time has come, he has spoken & to the purpose too. The blind have received their sight. Anti-slavery never stood so high in this town as today." Drake invites William Lloyd Garrison to lecture in Leominster: "The field is white already to harvest. The people are ripe, 'rotten ripe' for truth & I say let it come in your person. Now is just the day for you." Drake asks Garrison if he is coming to Leominster to lecture on Saturday of next week.
