Letter from John Bishop Estlin, Bristol, to Samuel May, January 16th, 1847
Description:
Estlin begins with a complaint that he was unable to secure a package sent by May due to excessive mailing charges. He sends money for another subscription to "The Liberator" and tells May that William Lloyd Garrison failed to make an impression on that class of English society which would have been most helpful to his cause. He says that Henry Clarke Wright advised Frederick Douglass to have nothing to do with the manumission papers.
