Letter from John Bishop Estlin, Bristol, to Samuel May, August 30, 1848
Description:
Estlin says that James Heywood, a Unitarian member of Parliament, is planning a vacation in New England. He regrets missing the chance to see Mrs. Maria Weston Chapman during her brief stop in England, and comments on her decision to spend most of her visit in France during its current political state. Estlin was not surprised to hear of William Lloyd Garrison's diminished strength. He discusses hydrotherapy and other popular medical treatments. Estlin inquires about the fate of Frederick Douglass' paper, "The North Star."
