Letter from Edward Brooks Hall, Providence, [R.I.], to Samuel May, Oct. 22, 1850

Hall informs May that he ceased supporting the National Anti-Slavery Bazaar when he discovered that the proceeds of the bazaar were used to hire lecturers who spoke on the Sabbath "and sometimes against the usual observance of the Sabbath." Hall says that he has heard complaints against this practice, but affirms his support of the abolition of slavery.
Holograph, signed.
Notes by May are found near the address, including the comment, "spoken plainly, but not disrespectfully."
