Letter from John Parkman, Staten Island, [N.Y.], to Samuel Joseph May, Dec. 8, 1851
Description:
Parkman informs Samuel Joseph May that he knew about the exclusion of his article on the Thomas Sims case and that he protested against it. He said that the reason the country subscribers received copies of "The Christian Register" containing the article was that their copies were mailed first and the issue was not changed until the country subscriptions were already being delivered. Parkman also says that Samuel May, Jr. thought that Dr. Francis Parkman had the article withdrawn because the writer mentioned him in connection with another one. He does not agree with May, Jr. about the motives of David Reed, the publisher of "The Christian Register."
Holograph, signed.
Includes a clipping from "The Inquirer" entitled, "The Rev. S. May and the 'Boston Christian Register.'"
