This envelope contains a brief message on the inside flap. Pillsbury asks May to tell Mrs. Pillsbury that he is well and is writing only on business this week because he is greatly pressed for time.
Addressed to "Rev. Samuel May, 21 Cornhill, Boston" and postmarked from Derby on January 26, 1856.
Holograph, signed.
May's handwriting on the envelope reads, "Rec'd Feb. 19 '56. Ans'd [Feb.] 25, ['56]."
