Letter from Caleb Stetson, South Scituate, [Mass.], to Samuel May, Oct. 27th, 1858
Description:
Stetson tells May that he is forced to give up his home on account of his anti-slavery preaching and states that "even professed Antislavery men have told me that 'they were tired of the subject.' " Stetson complains of May's charge that he is unfaithful to the abolition cause. He says that he has no right to give up his church to anti-slavery conventions and adds that the town hall is available for anti-slavery meetings.
