Letter from Samuel May, Leicester, [Mass.], to Richard Davis Webb, August 11, '65
Description:
May acknowledges a contribution to the Freedmen's Aid Society. He offers to do favors for Web, reports that he has heard from Eliza Wigham and Mary Anne Estlin, and says that he is trying to get an autograph of President Abraham Lincoln for Alfred Webb. May asks for the name of the author who wrote a book entitled, "The Gentle Life." He reports on the various small commissions he has been given to do and on the activities of his sons and George Thompson.
