Grand Army of the Republic Department of Massachusetts Malcolm Ammidown Post, No. 168, Southbridge. Three elderly gentlemen, veterans of the Civil War, are stoically seated in the GAR Room at Town Hall. In the background are many framed pictures and certificates and the five pointed star, the emblem of the organization. From left to right Captain William H. King, Senior Vice Commander, Festus Faughtner, GAR Commander 1931 and Israel LeDuc,(stet.) Junior Vice Commander. Serviceman Faughtner is dressed in a uniform tunic with a medal on the breast and on his knee is a hat with a medallion. The other gentlemen are in civilian clothing, one with a collar-less shirt and suit, the other with a shirt and tie with a cardigan and dress pants. They sit beside a table that has three U.S. flags. surrounding a table with a record book on top. According to the Last Will of Post 168 GAR, recorded in the minutes book of 1931: "Know all men by these present that we, Festus Faulkner, Israel Ledoux(stet.) and William H. King, all of Southbridge in County of Worcester and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the sole survivors of Malcolm Ammidown Post No. 168, G.A.R. in consideration of one dollar and other valuable considerations to us paid by Women's Relief Corps 71, Daughters of union Veterans and Sons of Union Veterans, all of said Southbridge. The receipt where of is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, sell, transfer, and deliver unto the said Woman's Relief Corps #71, Daughters of union Veterans and Sons of union Veterans, as joint tenants, the survivor to take the whole. The following goods and chattels, namely: All the goods and chattels located in G.A.R. quarters in the Town Hall Southbridge, Mass., and described as follows: 1 large American Flag, 5 G.A.R. swords and belts, black bound record book of Civil War Veterans, 1 charter, 25 pictures of civil war. 1 black marble clock, 55 chairs, 2 desks, 1 table, 2 desk lamps, 1 bible, 5 altars, 3 pictures in ante-room, 1 ballot box, 15 pictures in kitchen, and all tables and benches in the dining room. the vender hereby reserve for themselves the right to use the above described premises during the term of the natural lives of each of them."
