Letter from Samuel May, Jr., [Leicester, Mass.], to William Lloyd Garrison, [September 1869]
Description:
Samuel May, Jr. apologizes to William Lloyd Garrison for having neglected to forward his whereabouts to Garrison, stating that he is so overladen with engagements of late that he "cannot do justice to [himself] or friends". May states that the sum of $1200 he had sent to George Thompson was aboard the "Germania", which had wrecked off the coast of Newfoundland, but that he had since learned that the mail was recovered, and that the registered letter addressed to Thompson was sent on to London. May adds that he had also had the foresight to insure the bond sent to Thompson. May announces that he is currently essaying to collect funds to support woman's suffrage.
