Letter from Massachusetts Abolition Society, Boston, June 1839
Description:
On behalf of the Massachusetts Abolition Society, Amos A. Phelps writes to the newly appointed officers of the organization to accept the appointments and to allow the society to publish their names in connection with its proceedings and addresses to the public. The letter refers the recipients to the Massachusetts Abolitionist of the 6th for “a development of the principles and objects of the society and the motives that have led to its organization.” It also lists the ways in which the new society differs from the old one.
